Senior Security Specialist Job Description

Overview

The Senior High Performance Compute (HPC) Engineer leads the design, development, and optimization of advanced computing environments that enable large-scale modeling, simulation, and data analytics. This role applies deep expertise in modern HPC architectures, heterogeneous computing, and cloud-integrated solutions to deliver resilient, scalable, and efficient compute infrastructures. The engineer provides technical leadership in developing strategies that align with mission objectives, ensuring systems are designed for performance, interoperability, and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Architect, implement, and maintain high-performance compute systems supporting      complex analytic and simulation workloads.
  • Design and integrate next-generation HPC strategies incorporating GPU acceleration, distributed computing, containerization, and cloud–edge hybrid architectures.
  • Evaluate and optimize system performance across compute, storage, and networking      layers to ensure maximum throughput and minimal latency.
  • Lead modernization initiatives to transition legacy HPC environments to scalable, flexible, and secure infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and mission stakeholders to      align HPC solutions with program and enterprise needs.
  • Develop automation and orchestration frameworks for system provisioning, monitoring, and workload management.
  • Provide guidance on emerging technologies, including AI/ML integration, quantum-readiness, and data-intensive computing trends.
  • Ensure all systems meet security, reliability, and compliance standards within classified and unclassified environments.
  • Mentor technical teams and contribute to the development of enterprise compute      strategies and roadmaps.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance is required for this position
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical      Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in high-performance computing, distributed systems, or advanced compute architecture design.
  • Expertise in modern HPC technologies including GPU and accelerator programming,      MPI/OpenMP, and high-speed interconnects.
  • Proficiency in Linux-based systems, parallel file systems, and containerization/orchestration tools.
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid HPC solutions 
  • Strong understanding of workload scheduling, performance tuning, and systems      monitoring tools.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and interface with cross-disciplinary engineering and program teams.


Preferred:

  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or national security programs.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML training pipelines and data-intensive compute optimization.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices in HPC environments.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient computing strategies and sustainability principles.
